These little flags were sold outside Subiaco Oval on grand final day, their sale being one of the Spastic Welfare Association's major fundraising events for the year. The flags, made of a silken material and glued to thin pieces of dowel, were made for both competing teams each year, with the earliest known flags being produced for the 1959 grand final between Subiaco and East Perth. The last time they are known to have been made is for the 1977 grand final, between Perth and East Fremantle. As a result, it's expected they were issued for all intervening years, meaning 38 different flags were made. After collecting these for the past 15 years, I've been able to obtain 20 of those 38. However, I am yet to see any flags from 1975.

In 1980, BP Super Shop sold flags for each WAFL club, which were made in WA. Costing $5.95 apiece, the flags measured 88cm x 55cm and came with a 120cm pole to hang it from. They are very difficult to find today, most of them having been torn and discarded. As a league-wide promotion in 1980, children under the age of 16 who brought one of these flags to a WAFL game were admitted for free on the weekend of June 7 (Round 10) for a "flag day" promotion.

West PerthLarge felt penants were produced in 1980 featuring each club's official logo. They were perhaps most famous for being included in the set for Channel 7's long-running "World of Football" panel show during that season. Surprisingly, they are hard to find today, and many of those that have hit the market have been in poor condition.

In 1984, the Footy Shop in Leederville sold what it called "Scream Packs", which included a plastic bag, a bumper sticker and a vinyl penant. The packs cost $3.60. The penants were produced by WA-based Pennant House, which was still selling them (cheaply) at the turn of the new century. That said, they are very difficult to find today.
